Our Team

The Northern Ohio Regional Cancer Center is a comprehensive radiation treatment center located in Brook Park, Ohio. The Center provides state-of-the-art image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) treatments to cancer patients. The increased accuracy and precision of IGRT allows higher doses of radiation to be delivered safely during treatment, resulting in a shorter treatment time for the patient and a reduce risk of radiation to healthy tissues. Our clinical team provides quality care at convenient hours for our patients.

Medical Physicist

Medical physicists are responsible for developing and directing quality control programs for equipment and procedures. They are responsible for making sure the equipment works properly. Physicists take precise measurements of radiation beam characteristics and do other safety tests on a regular basis. Physicists work directly with the doctor in the treatment planning and delivery to help ensure that complex treatments are properly tailored for each patient. They are certified by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics.

Medical Dosimetrist

Dosimetrists carefully calculate the doses of radiation to ensure the tumor receives enough radiation. They develop many treatment plans to destroy the tumor while sparing healthy tissue. Many of these treatment plans are very complex. Dosimetrists work with the doctor and the medical physicist to choose the treatment plan that is right for each patient. The Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board certifies Dosimetrists.

Radiation Therapist

Radiation Therapists administer the daily radiation treatment under the doctor's prescription and supervision. They maintain daily records and regularly check the treatment machines to ensure they are functioning properly. They are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Radiation Oncology Nurse

Oncology nurses work with the radiation oncology team to help evaluate the patient prior to and during the treatment course. They also care for patients during the course of treatment and talk to patients about potential side effects and their management. During the treatment, patients may be evaluated weekly or more frequently by the nurse to assess problems and concerns. Nurses are certified by the State Board of Nursing.
